The National
Association of Decorative and Fine Arts Societies
When you join the Skipton & Wharfedale Decorative
and Fine Arts Society, you automatically become a member of NADFAS,
a registered charity consisting of 325 societies with a world-wide
membership of 90,000 Its aims include the promotion of aesthetic education
in the appreciation and study of the decorative and fine arts.
The organisation maintains a register of lecturers who are experts
in their field of study and a glance at the facing page will confirm
the quality and breadth of the programme. Optional study days and
day visits give members the opportunity to learn about a subject in
more depth, while the annual tour provides a stimulating and enjoyable
break when members can travel further afield to visit interesting
places in congenial company. Full details of activities are available
at meetings.
NADFAS has a reputation for pioneering work in conservation and church
recording and SWDFAS volunteers are currently involved in projects
at the Bronte Parsonage, Haworth, and at Skipton Museum. Occasionally
the society provides sponsorship for arts projects undertaken by young
people in local schools.
