Old Station Way areaOld Station Way was constructed in 1969 after the demolition of the railway, to give access to the Saints Estate. Mount Pleasant , which runs east to connect with Stockinger Lane, is almost on the line of the railway, with Southfield House (sheltered accomodation) more or less on the site of the former railway station. Southfield Road used to run behind the railway with Souhtfield Lane running west to connect with Southfiel Crescent and Southfield farm. The West Croft Estate between Old Station Way and Southfield Terrace, was built by Wimpeys in the 1990s on the site of a plastics factory (making baths etc.) which was burnt down in the 1980s. It was formerly the site of a weaving shed (the Barcroft Shed) owned by Adams. |
