North Street

North Street is and old turning off Church Street and runs north, with Wharfe Park on the left and Beacon Street on the right, to join Bark Lane at a left bend. This corner was eased in the 1960s when Bark Lane was also widened. Steps go down to the Suspension Bridge which replaced a ferry in the 1896 but had to be re-built after a storm in 1936.

In North Street is the old Low School building (now residential). A number of small cottages were demolished in the 1960s' Slum Clearance and one area has been left as a garden.

Addingham prepares for Britain in Bloom

The village is competing in the National Britain in Bloom competition this year and preparations, led by Addingham Garden Friends, are already underway.

We hope that all villagers and businesses will do your bit to help by:-

  • Making frontages and front gardens attractive and put out hanging baskets/planters visible from the street.
  • Keep pavements etc. swept and free from weeds.
  • Ensure that the village is free of litter & dog mess.
