Ilkley Roads and Low Mill

The present Ilkley Road is the continuation of Main Street from near the Cricket Ground to the junction with the A65 Addingham By-Pass. The Old Ilkley Road (which superceded it) runs from the bottom of Church Street, past Hallcroft Hall, to join the main road nearly opposite Cocking Lane which goes up to the Addingham Moorside. Old Lane (part of the earliest Addingham to Ilkley route) leaves Old Ilkley Road at Sandbeds (the former site for sand and gravel extraction) to go down to Low Mill. This was the largest of the local textile mills but is now residential - the old millworkers' cottages were converted to form Low Mill Village in the 1980s and the rest of the site has been redeveloped for residential use as Low Mill Fold following the final closure of the mill in 2002.

Addingham prepares for Britain in Bloom

The village is competing in the National Britain in Bloom competition this year and preparations, led by Addingham Garden Friends, are already underway.

We hope that all villagers and businesses will do your bit to help by:-

  • Making frontages and front gardens attractive and put out hanging baskets/planters visible from the street.
  • Keep pavements etc. swept and free from weeds.
  • Ensure that the village is free of litter & dog mess.
