Right:This
is a picture of the old houses at the bottom of Moor Lane,
this was the main road to Skipton before the new road was
built early this century. The old road followed the
Roman road from Ilkley to Skipton which went directly
over the 'Moor' and down into Skipton. Now Moor lane is
just the entrance to a small estate ('Moor Park')built in
the sixties. The village bypass (A65) and the A59 trunk
road between Skipton and Harrogate have changed the route
again. Fortunately it has reduced traffic in the village
considerably.

Left:
This is the entrance to Addingham from the Silsden side,
in front is the Craven Heifer pub. Named after a famous
cow bred in the 18th century, allegedly the largest cow
ever bred, there is nothing to substantiate this but it's
a good name for a pub. The road follows the old turn pike
road to Colne, the original road went via Addingham Moorside
instead of over Cringles as it does today. The pubs in the
village were constructed at about this time to service travellers,
a sort of 18th century motorway services. The Craven Heifer
was one of five.
