hmilbsly.jpg (7800 bytes)High Mill today has been converted into luxury housing as so many other dales industrial / farming buildings. The history of the mill goes back to the 14th century and probably earlier. It was first mentioned as a corn mill in 1315. The Vavasours in their land sale of 1619 sold the mill to John Greene, and in 1713 the Greenes to George Myers,

Whose family in turn sold it to RichardSmith.
Richard Smith following  John Cunliffe's lead added a Worsted Spinning mill using Arkwright Waterframes to the corn mill in 1787. This is the building of today. High Mill went onto become a fully integrated mill with the introduction of the Power Loom
