John Cockshot was said to have kept a pub called the Glow-worm,
this could have been a forerunner of the Sailor pub in the
late 18th century. The first mention of the 'Jolly Sailor'
was in 1838 when it was refered to as a thatched house. It
is now one the five Inns in the village.
